Why I Often Recommend Biest Cream

If you’ve been in my clinic, you’ve probably noticed that I reach for Biest cream often. Not because it’s fancy or complicated — but because it more closely mirrors human physiology and offers a level of balance, customization, and reassurance that many women deeply appreciate.

Biest Cream

Here’s why Biest has become such a core part of my practice.

1. Biest Reflects How Your Body Actually Worked 🌿

Your body never relied on estradiol alone.

For your entire reproductive life, you produced estradiol (E2) and estriol (E3) — two estrogens that worked together to keep tissues stable and supported.

  • Estriol (E3) is gentle and naturally calming

  • Estradiol (E2) can be both stimulating and balancing, depending on the tissue

This is why Biest, which blends estradiol + estriol, feels more physiologic — meaning it resembles what your body was used to for decades.

And importantly:👉 Estradiol is the only estrogen found in commercial patches, pills, gels, and sprays.None of these contain estriol.

2. Estriol’s Balancing Effect May Matter for Breast Tissue

There is growing evidence — especially from Europe — suggesting:

  • Estriol has antiproliferative (calming) effects on breast tissue

  • Estriol may help offset estradiol’s more stimulating actions

  • A blended E2 + E3 approach may create a more natural, gentler estrogen environment

  • Estriol-forward regimens are used internationally, even in some breast cancer survivors

We do not have perfect, definitive U.S.-based data yet, but the trends are compelling.

Personally, once I learned how estriol behaves in breast tissue and how different it is from estradiol, I couldn’t unsee it. It completely changed how I think about estrogen therapy.

3. Why Functional Medicine Physicians Rarely Use Estradiol-Only Options

Functional and personalized medicine always asks:

“Which option best respects physiology and supports long-term health?”

Once you understand how estriol and estradiol balance each other — and the potential breast-tissue benefits of that balance — estradiol-only options make less and less sense for many women.

This is exactly why functional medicine physicians almost never reach for estradiol-only regimens. When there is a way to restore balance and potentially offer additional tissue protection, we use it.

For me, that option is Biest.

4. Customizable, Steady, and Predictable

Biest is fully customizable:

  • the ratio

  • the dose

  • the delivery base

  • how often you use it

This matters for women who are sensitive to even tiny dose variations or who metabolize hormones differently. And because your compounded formula stays exactly the same every time, you get a far smoother, more predictable experience.

5. Affordable and Convenient: Three Hormones in One Application

A practical advantage that many women love:

When we combine:

  • Biest

  • Testosterone

  • Progesterone cream (if you’re using it)

…it typically totals about $35/month — all three hormones in one simple application.

It’s straightforward, affordable, and removes the hassle of juggling multiple products and multiple copays.

The Bottom Line

I recommend Biest cream because it:

🌿 Mirrors how your hormones naturally worked

✨ Includes estriol — a gentle, balancing estrogen with potential breast benefits

🧬 Aligns with functional medicine principles

🧴 Is customizable and steady💸 Lets you combine multiple hormones into one inexpensive application

👉 And because commercial options contain estradiol only, not estriol

For so many women, Biest provides a smoother, more physiologic, and more reassuring approach to hormone therapy — which is why it remains a mainstay in my practice.
