Dear Patients and Friends,

One year ago, I opened the doors to Dragonfly Menopause Care and saw my very first three patients. At that time, I truly had no idea what this practice would become. I remember telling my emergency medicine group that this was “just a side gig”—and I meant it!

But over the past twelve months, Dragonfly has grown into something far beyond what I could have imagined. I’ve had the privilege of caring for women with all types of stories and needs—from those navigating perimenopause for the first time, to women facing the challenges of breast and other hormone-sensitive cancers, and now even those on Medicare who deserve the same thoughtful, individualized care.

While this work looks different from my eight wonderful years in family medicine in Glencoe, it has rekindled what I loved most about that chapter—the deep, ongoing relationships I get to build with my patients. That’s what I missed most in emergency medicine, and I’m so grateful to have found it again.

This year also opened the door to a whole new dimension of care through personalized functional medicine. I’ve come to believe that any physician who dismisses functional medicine has simply never experienced a condition that conventional medicine couldn’t solve. Functional medicine helps us look deeper—to find the “why” behind symptoms and restore balance rather than just manage disease. It’s been a practice-changing journey for me, and I can’t wait to complete my certification this year so I can offer even more to those I serve.

Another unexpected joy has been realizing how meaningful it is to offer care outside the insurance model. For the first time in my career, I can spend the time each woman truly deserves—listening, educating, and partnering in care without the constraints of rushed visits or insurance checkboxes. The best part is that my patients notice the difference—and appreciate the kind of care this model makes possible.

To say I feel blessed is an understatement. I never imagined I’d be running my own clinic—let alone one that has grown so quickly and is filled with such incredible patients. The hours can be long, and I look forward to the day I can welcome you into a larger space with a nurse by my side (and a lab station on site!). But for now, I’m simply content, surprised, and deeply grateful to be exactly where I am.
